Our little Pink Lady: toddler outfit

I do have to admit - when we knew we were expecting a girl we went a bit crazy with pink. I was planning on buying lots of unisex clothing, so if we ever have a boy next, we would be sorted. My husband on the other hand was very much into pink, and got all gushy over everything pink and girly. I soon was won over by all the cutesy pink things and now we have a large collection of super-girly things.

Don't get me wrong, we do have other styles and colours for her too, but much of the time, she is a little pink lady!

Sometimes I do wonder what is going to happen if we have a boy next. I know that I would want to dress him (if he have a boy that is) into preppy boys clothes. Not pink girly frilly things. And at the same time I think it really would be smart to just use the same clothes as the older sibling, considering how much money you spend on kids clothing. Or at least, how much we've spent on them (honestly, my daughter has a bigger and better wardrobe than myself...). If we were smart, we would stop buying all this pink stuff and go for the unisex option.

And guess what my husband always says when I bring this matter up and say we shouldn't buy that many pink clothing?

He says "Our boy will look fabulous in pink!".

So I guess the pink is here to stay...

Have you ever gone colour crazy, either with pink or blue? And what about saving that for the next one?

  1. My first was a girl and I went a bit mad with the pink too, it's hard not too. My second was a boy and he did wear a couple of her items but it was mostly skirts and dresses, so he couldn't go in much anyway. I also had the idea that I wanted to buy unisex and share but once I had him, I just wanted lots of new things for him, I kept spotting lots of cute little outfits :) x

    1. We have so many skirts and dresses for her too... If we do have a boy next, I probably won't mind him wearing pink hand-me-downs home, but I think dresses would be a step too far :D

I'd probably be the same, and just get lots of new things too, it is nice for them to have something of their own isn't it?

  2. After having 2 boys we went pink mental when we found out we were expecting twin girls. None of the unisex stuff we have bought over the years has been touched and they are real pinky pink girls!

    1. Hah, so you went totally for it then :) I guess it is nice to get a bit of variety too, and get them their own things.

    1. I love those gloves - shame she keeps on picking them and has almost broken them now... Another pink enthusiast I see, more the merrier :)

  4. I love those little boots! I do buy a lot of clothes that are quite girly, but I try to (mostly) buy unisex vests and sleepsuits, which could be passed on should we ever have a boy x

    1. We got some hand-me-downs from her cousins, and she used to wear lots of boyish things back home when she was smaller. Vests and sleepsuits don't really matter too much I think, they can be pretty much anything, so might as well save your money on some key items.

  5. Love how she's wearing different shades of pink and not all the same, the hat breaks up the pinkness which is lovely. I love those pink hunter wellies!

    1. Thanks :) I do quite like the look, even though it wasn't really planned, we've just got so many pink things... Those pink Hunter wellies are one of my favourites too, they go great with pretty much everything in her wardrobe!

  7. LOVE the hat!! We are big fans of giant bobble hats in this house, Isla has 2 but they're both White! My husband is the same, he loves Isla in Pink, girly stuff. I love dressing her in Black and Grey much to his disgust haha. She looks super cute in that jacket. Thanks for linking up with us xx #weekendbabystyle

    1. We do love bobble hats - got a matching one with my little girl, and hubby has gotten his own (non-matching though) bobble hat too.

Hah, so you've got completely opposite baby dressing styles! Must be some interesting conversations when you are going out, who gets to dress her :)

  8. We used to joke that if we had a boy he would be very girly. I think there's so many gorgeous girly clothes, it's a shame just to dress them in unisex colours because you might have another girl next. Your little lady looks fabulous in pink x

    1. Yeah, I suppose so, I do love the girly look on her... It just feels like such a waste spending all that much money on clothes and then there is a 50% chance you might never use them again.

But like Sharon said earlier, sometimes all these plans go out of the window and you just want to buy the current things, just for them anyway, regardless what you've planned.

  9. Love the wellies and the hat. I love dressing Clem in pink but then I also like to switch it up and dress her in a lot of boys/unisex stuff too.

    1. Going for variety I see :) I think we have very little unisex stuff - it all seems to be terribly girly. Except a couple of items we've gotten as hand-me-downs, and we hardly ever use them on her.

  12. I am loving the gloves. I particularly never went favourable for colours, more styles with my two... Lewis was (and still is) a t-shirt and jeans kid where as Leah is certainly a more dressy up kid purely because she can get away with skirts, leggins, jeans, short/tights combos etc. x

    1. I think if I was doing all the shopping we'd have a much more balanced, and preppy clothes style. We do get a lot as gifts, and my hubby is nuts on pink (so always chooses it if he can) so this is where we've ended up with :D

It seems boys often are T-shirt / jeans kids, there doesn't seem to be that much styles out for them unfortunately. At least it is comfy and practical! There is so much more selection for girls, much easier to find interesting clothes for them.
