Baby OOTD #4 - If we had a boy...
I like to dress my baby girl in girly clothes. I love her to wear dresses, and cute little pink things. But sometimes I do wonder, what would we get if we had a boy...
This week I am doing something a bit different for my regular kiddy outfit posts - I will show you what kind of clothes my baby girls would wear if she were a boy. So without further ado... Here is my selection from H&M and Gap (baby boy and toddler boy sections).
You've guessed it - I love stripes! I am often found wearing stripes myself too. And my baby girl. Sometimes we have matching stripy outfits. Anyway, I do quite like the preppy look on boys - blues, whites, browns and greys. As for accessories, flat caps are pretty much the most adorable accessories on boys. I was reminded of this the other day when we were at Spitalfields market and saw the cutest little dapper in his chinos and flat cap. Aww. Another favourite of mine for boys accessories are braces. I do like them for girls as well, but they are super-adorable on boys.
Have you ever thought about what kind of things you'd go for, if you had a child of the opposite sex? Would you go mad for pink for a girl, or would you be one of those mums that dress their baby boys in cartoon monster T-shirts? If you have done (or are planning on doing) something similar let me know your links - would love to have a look :)

Those boys' outfits are very cute. I've got two boys and one girl, so have never had to do this! I did go slightly crazy for pink when we first had my daughter after two boys, but now we have found her own style between us.
ReplyDeletePopping over from Medicated Follower.
Haha,I think every parent goes a bit bananas for pink when they have a girl :) My husband definitely did, he pretty much dressed her in all pink for months.
DeleteI love the little coat in the top middle! We have a relative who is pregnant and I'm really hoping it's a boy so I can go and buy some boys outfits! x

Yeah it's cute, from Gap. I find Gap do very nice clothes for boys, Next have alright items too sometimes, and H&M. Polarn o Pyret do nice stuff too for boys.
DeleteI'm a big stripe and blue fan which helps having a boy. People say their clothes are boring, but you can find nice items, just less of them are available to choose from than girls.
ReplyDeleteYeah, people often say it is much harder to find nice stuff for boys. I think it is the same for men's clothes in general, there just is much less selection for them.
DeleteI really like the items you've picked. I'm a huge fan of stripes, they look fab on babies x
ReplyDeleteThanks :) I go a bit crazy for stripes - they look good on everyone I think :)
DeleteNice choices! I think it's true, it's harder to dress a boy - there is less choice unless you look hard. But once you discover where to look, you're sorted. H&M are particularly great for boys I think. I'm a bit different, my boys wear all colours and patterns, even florals. They have pink shoes. Colour and gender don't go together in my book.. but I'm a bit out there! x
ReplyDeleteWow, that is adventurous :) I am sure your boys look very fashionable and fabulous in their clothes, that sounds like you dress them up in fun clothes! It probably depends what kind of style you as a mum have too - if you are more into fashion you are more likely to try interesting clothes for your kids too.
Delete(btw, I once asked my husband what are we gonna do with all the pink baby clothes if we have a boy next. My husband said he better look good in pink. So we might end up with some more interesting choices here too :D)
I often do look at the boys clothes... ho hum... maybe one day...
ReplyDeleteMaybe - we can only wish :) Or then maybe grandsons if not our own sons :)
DeleteGorgeous picks! I'd have dressed Sam in most of them :) Thanks for linking up with #TT_Thursday x
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting - do love looking at baby/toddler outfits :)
DeleteLoving the boys outfits, I am very fortunate to have had 1 of each but I do find boys clothing alot more plain, it always tends to be t shirt and jean/shorts combos for him. I am certainly more drawn towards Leah's wardrobe but then I suppose her wardrobe costs a lot more to kit out. lol. Loving the stripes too #TT_Thursday
ReplyDeleteIt is so true - boys clothes tend to be pretty plain and there is much more selection for girls. It is just so easy to just put a T and trousers on a boy, and there isn't really much more than that in the shops. You really need to do the leg work if you want to kit your boy out in something a bit more varied.

Yeah, it is a shame... What a cute idea for a clothing company! :)
