Running around our old park

Our old park... Well, not our old park quite yet, but we will be moving in a month or so.

It used to be a cow pasture, now I guess it is a child pasture. We've spent many a morning here, many a day here, and many an evening here. Sometimes just five minutes or so, sometimes over an hour. Running around, releasing that boundless toddler energy. Knackering that poor tired old mummy and daddy even further.

She climbs, she runs, she hides, she picks flowers, she runs, she sees a plane and pretends to be one, she goes down a slide, she pushes the merry-go-around, she climbs in the swing, she climbs off a swing, she jumps on the see-saw... And again. And again.

So many little memories. Before I had my daughter this park was always just one big  expansive space, with a little children's playground in the middle. Sometimes I'd come and sunbathe here, or even have a little jog, but usually I would just quickly walk through it, ignoring it. Now, it has become practically the center of our little universe. We go there everyday, rain or shine. OK, maybe not when it is raining, but if it looks like it might rain we try to squeeze in a little bit of time in there.

This park really is quite special to us. I've taken her first and second birthday pictures in this park. Her official birthday portraits, in this little old park around the corner. The pictures in this post are in fact from her second birthday day, where she is exactly 2 years (and a few hours) old.

It will be strange to leave our little park behind, the one in which we have spent countless of hours, bundles of energy and enjoyed happy times. And make those memories again in our new park, in our new neighbourhood. We won't be moving too far away so maybe we can come here sometimes, if just for the old times sake...

The only trouble is, she never wants to leave!

  1. It's lovely to have those memories to look back on and sounds like the trips to the park have been a lot of fun. Hope you have just as much fun making memories in the new park too.

    1. I am sure we will - we have been to the new park a few times and it is even bigger and busier and has a sand pit too :) It looks like a nice place as well :)

  2. It's great that you've got this place to you have all these sweet memories in, sometimes it's harder leaving the parks and play areas than it is to leave your house. At least you're not moving too far away and will be able to visit it occasionally. I look forward to hearing about all your adventures in the new park though. Thanks for linking up with Country Kids.

    1. I know, it is just so sad to leave places that you have wonderful memories of behind. It feels sad to leave. And the area in general - I used to do so many walks around here when she was still a little baby in a pram - we used to walk miles around here. But new adventures await! :)

  3. Lovely post. It's lovely seeing your kids grow up in the parks- finally getting tall/strong enough to do this and that. It really marks the changes. Yes, you will have to return from time to time- we love going to different parks for a change too. Good luck in your new home and area. :-) xxx

    1. That is the sweetest thing isn't it. One day they can just about sit up in a swing, the next they are climbing up and throwing themselves off slides. It is mind blowing how fast children grow. And thank you, I am sure the new park will provide us lots of happy memories too :)

    1. Hah ha, it is always the way. She always throws a strop as we leave and sometimes I have to carry her (and she is getting heavy... ugh)

  5. Lovely photos - great light. And something I'm sure we all can relate to - the importance of parks and outdoor space for children. I'm not sure how I'd manage without! Xxx

    1. Thank you - I do love the light, I think this was pretty late so we got the lovely golden hour in shots :) I am glad that the new park is really close to us as well, we couldn't manage without one either!

  7. Ah little things like this make me sad. It's like when you're going home from a holiday and you look around briefly before you walk out re-living the things you've done there.... I bet you're excited about moving though!! :) x

    1. I am! But it is still a while away as we are doing renovations. It does feel like a jump into, I don't know yet what, as we have lived here for years and brought our little girl here from the hospital. will be so sad to leave all these memories behind...

And yeah, I always feel a bit sad at the end of a holiday, they just go past so fast!

  9. Oh I can see why she doesn't want to leave, what a beautiful big green space, and I know what you mean about parks becoming more precious when you've got little ones!

    1. Ha, it is always a struggle to get her to go, even after several warnings ahead of time... It is funny how important having a good park becomes, toddlers just need that free space to roam around to wear them out. :)

  10. Beautiful photos. Must be sad to leave the park, but nice to have the memories, and hopefully you'll have one near when you move.

We don't get to our park that often because it's (realistically) a car journey away.

    1. Aww that is such a shame! We are lucky in the sense that we live a walking distance away from parks, and there are even a few woods not too far away (a bit of a distance but manageable). I hope you have a garden or another little patch of green around to enjoy that at least if no park!

    1. That's one of my favourite things about this blog - a place to put little stories and memories and pictures too. It is like a visual diary, but for my whole family :)

  12. Going to the park is one of the nearest things about being a toddler. My son loves it and like your little one hates leaving it! Gorgeous snaps and she looks like she had good fun exploring X

    1. Exactly, it is THE thing for any toddler. They are all the same though aren't they when it come to leaving the park - how many tantrums I have seen over the last two years when they want to stay but parents want to go... Many I can tell you :)
